Bryant School was 1 out of 20 schools in Alabama that had 80% participation in the Reading Contest from AEA!

We have ordered 2 flip cameras with coke rewards!

We have sent 2 large boxes of can tabs to the Shriner's Cripple and Burn Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. They use them to purchase toys for the children.

 Last year we checked 9,114 book out in our library and we are on track to break that record! 1st semster we checked out 4,769.

Bryant School offers easy access to all grade levels by color coding all reading material by reading level. Students in third through eighth grades are instructed in the use of Bryant Information Center which is a program on all computers at the school. This allows them to see what is available and if it is checked out or is in the library. Eighth grade students are provided instructions on acquiring information to create research papers from both text and internet use, especially Alabama Virtual Library. Students and faculty are given access to Accelerated Reading program, Star Reading Program, Alabama Virtual Library, Internet access, projectors and use of Promethean equipment. We have four computers in the library that students have access to during the school day. Students and teachers are provide with the following resources: DVDs, VHS, text in both fiction and nonfiction, audio cassettes, encyclopedias, dictionaries, and I-pads. Students and teachers have access to resources in the library to check-out or use within the school. Several times a year teachers ask to use reference material in their classroom for students to create reports.

Our library is also equipped with distance learning equipment which allows remote connectivity to classrooms all across the United States.

 The library is the hub for the Accelerated Reader program.  Teachers report the progress of the students to me and I make sure the students are rewarded accordingly with packets of rewards based on the number of AR points they have with an 80% average.  Students attend a pizza party and also have a fun day based again on points.   

 Fund raisers for the library includede 3 book fairs per year and all the different collections we do at the media center. We collect Box Tops 4 Education, Coke Reward points, Campbell Soup Labels, ink cartridges, Large business (Church)size ink toners. We also collect can tabs such as from soft drinks to send to Shriner's Burn Hospitals to purchase toys for children at the hospitals.

 If there is a particular book you are looking for, I will be glad to assist. We may not have a book for every subject requested, but whenever possible, I will be glad to order necessary items when funds become available.
