Gene Ivey Shares His Love of Music
Bryant 7th and 8th grade students were treated to an afternoon of classic fiddle tunes performed by Gene Ivey. Ivey, a resident of Ider, Alabama has been inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame for his work in folk music. The Alabama Arts Council lists him as one of their Master Folk Artist. Mr. Ivey also builds instruments and has completed of 270 musical instruments for others to play. There are some of his fiddles currently on display at the Smithsonian Institute. Gene Ivey is pictured in the center playing being accompanied by Jody Pryor and Bryant enrichment instructor, Jesse Daniel.
